This is a unique historical walking tour of Robert Louis Stevenson’s life in and around Edinburgh’s old town.

Hear about Stevenson’s life from his birthplace to school, university, his drinking dens and much more.

 

Join us as we unfold fascinating facts about some of Robert Louis Stevenson’s most famous novels such as “Treasure Island”, “Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde” & “Kidnapped”. Learn about the people and landmarks that inspired his greatest works. Take a journey back in time, through the streets of Auld Reekie, the pavements Stevenson once walked on, before becoming one of the world’s most famous authors. This tour is a distinctly atmospheric and memorable experience. This tour includes a free whisky & shortbread and ends in the Banshee Labirynth, Scotland’s infamous underground bar/ restaurant /entertainment and cinema complex, situated in the heart of Edinburgh’s old town.

The House of Robert Louis Stevenson

The Stevenson's house was built in the early 1800s and is located in Heriot Row in the heart of Edinburgh's New Town. It was the childhood home of Robert Louis Stevenson (1850 - 1894), author ofTreasure Island, Jekyll and Hyde, The Black Arrow and Kidnapped, from the age of six until he left in 1880.

The house features:

- a Drawing Room, used for pre-dinner drinks and coffee and after dinner liqueurs. This room is also equipped with a piano and can host up to 40 guests.

- a Dining Room, that can be used for meals for from 2 to 34 persons sitting down or for fork buffets using this and the drawing room up to a capacity of 70 guests. Furnished entirely with antiques, it offers beautiful surroundings for a reception.

- the house also features the huge Stevenson Bathroom with its original enamel bath and shower overhead. For hot summer days, the house also offers access to one of the famous private New Town gardens.In the house there is also free WiFi.
